Children are authors too! Aside from being scientists, explorers and philosophers, young children are very great in making up their own stories. The adults around them are to listen, encourage and even note down these made-up stories. Ynigo has started creating his own stories. The other day he made up a story about a baby monkey who cried because he could not find his mommy and while looking for her passed by a playground where he used the swing, the see-saw and the slide. It was in the playground that his mommy finally saw him. How I wish I was able to video this story. Nonetheless, I was able to document it as I wrote his story down and afterwards, we made his story into a book. I wrote down what he said on sheets of paper and we drew. This helped Ynigo see books from the perspective of authors and now asks who wrote the stories we read to him. For older children you may ask him to draw and write down on his own. This is a very good way of developing language skills. Eventhough you might not understand what your child is saying at times, continue to support and encourage him/her. S/he might surprise you and turn to become the next JK Rowling or Tom Clancy.
The other day, Ynigo created another story. I was able to record it this time but I think he became conscious because of the video. Please see video below.
wow! i think Ynigo has a potential to be an author someday:)(wishing)...
ReplyDeleteLei, can create also his own stories. The first story that i told him is the monkey and the turtle. From that story, he adapt the concept, and able to create a good one, but same in characters:). But it's good that in their early age they can already create their own good stories.Hope they will become successful in their future:)
Wow!!! Ang cute cute naman ni Ynigo mag kwento =^_^=
ReplyDeleteYou’re right teacher:) ... learning of the child were come from their own knowledge and ability. Let’s just support what are their passions to be their professions in life. Kung mahilig sila magdrawing, magsulat, sports-minded, why we don’t just give our full support and love to develop those skills.
That’s all teacher, TENKYOU! :)
Ynigo really keeps on surprising me.. with his age, he's really a genius!!! he can already create his own story.. Oh! wow! so amazing!!
ReplyDeleteI wish i could also document my child's own story.. too bad i'm occupied with all the problems i have right now.
I wish I could also be as flexible as you are teacher Beth so I can do all things at the same time.
yap...agree ako sainyo lahat....
